Left Hand release extremely limited flight jacket modelled on original Osti design.

Osti founded brand, Left Hand, are set to release a made in Italy bomber jacket in extremely limited numbers. The Brembo Bomber pays homage to Osti’s own self designed 1970s US WEP Flight jacket.

The jacket utilises a garment dyed fabric that has been adapted from Osti’s legendary Thermojoint fabric, which was first made as a hard-wearing military-grade fabric that was constructed from the bonding of cotton and PVC.

The jacket’s most prominent visual features are the two large front facing pockets that have taken direct inspiration from those on a US WEP Bomber jacket, that was favoured by fighter pilots of the U.S Navy and Marine Corps during the 1970s.

The original jackets were designed to be worn under cold weather exposure suits and therefore warranted a boxy fit to allow for mobility inside an aircraft. The fighter pilots rightfully thought the jackets were functional and cool enough to warrant being worn outside of an aircraft, which eventually led to them being adopted by a fashion market.

Left Hand’s version of the WEP Bomber stays true to the design of the original, with a handful of succinct changes. The Brembo jacket is constructed entirely of a premium Italian fabric that is fully lined and the outer fabric has been treated with a Polyurethane coating that provides water repellency.

A full made in Italy Lampo zipper runs up the entirety of the bomber just as it did on Osti’s original jacket alongside pockets featuring branded Left Hand snap fastenings. The collar and cuffs are ribbed to keep fabric close to the skin – a feature of the original design of the WEP bomber that provided superior insulating qualities for pilots at high altitude.

To provide users with the ability to regulate their temperature, Left Hand have added underarm vents that can be opened or closed as desired. Subtle Left Hand branding can be seen to the left sleeve of the jacket and on the recycled zip puller.

In addition to the two front pockets an internal zip pocket allows for wearers to stow valuables.
An extremely limited run of 50 bombers is set to launch at lefthandsportswear.com on Sunday at 8pm.
