Palace and Berghaus Combine for Autumn

The ability for British brands to transcend their traditional roots is well-documented. Berghaus is the archetype when it comes to the concept of streetwear, well before streetwear and few brands have been so beloved without ever really trying to be. In our part of the world, the appropriation of technical outerwear and lurid fleeces was a thing way before the internet. Bright rainwear, waterproof membranes, aztec patterns and that simple but effective logo all somehow collided to provide the partying youngsters and terrace-dwelling ne’erdowells of the late 80s with something that was the perfect marriage of form, function and somewhat inadvertently, fashion.

Often, when brands that became fashionable by accident realise there’s money to be made, they ruin it before they’ve really started. Berghaus have never been guilty of this. Through their Dean Street range and their deft, grassroots content, they’ve asserted themselves as a brand for the lads who remember it first time around and the new generation with similar sensibilities.

It was a matter of time before the stars aligned and Palace gave it their own unique treatment.

We’re not skaters, but in Palace there’s a skateboard brand that doesn’t really discriminate against us for that. Right back to their link ups with brands like Umbro there’s been a wider acknowledgement of British culture beyond the board.

This fits into that perfectly.
